Whether you’re looking to travel by train, bus, bike or foot. Plan your day out in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire using greener travel options.

Travel by bus

  • Belton House - The number 1 bus from Grantham to Lincoln, and the number 27 bus runs Grantham to Sleaford, both stop just outside the entrance. 
  • Clumber Park – Take the Stagecoach Sherwood Arrow service from Workshop to Ollerton, alight at Carburton, 3/4 mile from the entrance. 
  • Tattershall Castle – Take the B5 service from Lincoln to Boston and alight at Tattershall. 
  • Mr Straw's House - Stagecoach services 22/25 between Worksop and Doncaster, 42/43 between Worksop and Retford and TM Travel service 34 between Worksop, Retford and Tuxford, alight at Blyth Road, a short walk from the entrance. 
  • Sandilands - Take the number 59 service from Skegness and Mablethorpe, alight at Bluestone Way, a 1 mile walk from Sandilands.  
  • Gunby Hall and Gardens - Catch the number 56 bus from Lincoln and Skegness, the layby at Gunby roundabout (500 yards from the entrance) is a request stop. 
  • The Workhouse and Infirmary -  Regular services from Newark, Nottingham and Mansfield bus stations.

  • Belton House - The nearest train station is Grantham (3 miles), taxi services are available. 
  • Clumber Park – The nearest train station is Worksop (4.5 miles), taxis are available.
  • Tattershall Castle – The nearest train station is Ruskington (10 miles), taxis are available.  
  • Mr Straw's House – The nearest station is Worksop (0.5 mile), Mr Straw's can be reached on foot. 
  • Sandilands – The nearest train station is Skegness (13 miles), taxis or bus services are available.
  • Gunby Hall and Gardens - The nearest station is Skegness (7.5 miles), taxis are available. 
  • Woolsthorpe Manor - The nearest train station is Grantham (8 miles), taxis are usually available. 
  • The Workhouse and Infirmary - The nearest train station is Newark Castle (7 miles), taxis are available.

The National Cycle Network (NCN) is a UK-wide network of signed paths and routes, ideal if you’re looking to reach places by bike.

  • Tattershall Castle - NCN1 is within 1 mile.

  • The Workhouse and Infirmary - The National Byway (Heritage Cycle Route) 

Arriving by foot

  • Woolsthorpe Manor – is 3 miles from the Viking Way, footpath from Colsterworth. 
  • The Workhouse and Infirmary – is on the Robin Hood Way
