Medieval Weekend at Tattershall Castle

Experience living history with the Plantagenet Medieval Society this August Bank Holiday.

This weekend Tattershall Castle is transported back to the 14th Century with “The Plantagenets”, who will recreate the pageantry, excitement and action of medieval combat.

Witness fully armoured knights as they display chivalry and courage. Archers will demonstrate the use of the longbow too, with lots of opportunity for you to join in with dancing and squire training

Events start from 10.30am and last entry is at 3.30pm.

Daily timetable:

11.00 -12.00 am: Archery practice and Have a go archery

12.00-12.45 pm: Archery display

12.45 -1.15 pm: Squire Training – Take part in axe, mace and sword training and tilting at the quintain.

1.15- 2.00 pm: Dressing the knight – a talk on armour and how it was used.

2.15pm: Courtly Dancing – 14th Century dancing, with a variety of dances such as the Pavane, the Farandole and Branles. Including have a go session

3.00pm: Medieval Foot Combat – Thrilling full contact armoured tournament. 3.45pm (approx.): Show and Tell – An opportunity to meet and question the Knights, Ladies, Archers and Squires about their medieval life.

Living History displays , musicians , crafts and castle tours at varying times.

Accessibility

This event takes place in the Castle grounds, in which there are loose gravel paths and uneven surfaces. Access to the upper floors of the tower is via a spiral staircase (149 steps). There is ramped access to a single room on the ground floor, which includes an accessibility folder showing images and providing information about the upper floors.
