With a house on this site since the Doomsday book, the Verney family have lived on this land for over 400 years. During this time many colourful characters have witnessed the rise and fall of the family’s fortunes, passing stories down to successive generations. On this tour you’ll discover the myths and legends that bring the house to life, involving tall tales of pirates, dramatic getaways, grave digging and even ghosts! It’s up to you to decide if they’re rooted in historical fact, or fantasy...
The tour will last approximately 1.5 hours. The tour is free but normal admission prices apply. Free for National Trust members.
The tour takes place across multiple floors at Claydon House, so isn't accessible for those in wheelchairs and/or those unable to manage stairs.
