Our experienced tutor will guide you through every step of the process, showing you how to transform sterling silver into your finished piece. Along the way, you’ll learn essential metal-working skills, including forming, forging, sawing, filing, sanding, soldering and polishing, while using a range of specialist hand tools.
The course is suitable for beginners with no prior jewellery making experience, or for those with some knowledge who’d like to refresh and extend their skills. As our courses are limited to a maximum of 8 attendees, you will have expert tuition and we can adapt the teaching to suit your level of skill and desired outcome.
Your tutor Machi de Waard is a designer/jeweller who has been making modernist jewellery in silver and gold in her studio in Reading, Berkshire for over 17 years.
You can do this course as a standalone or book multiple short courses to build up a bank of jewellery and metal smithing skills.
All the tools, materials and teaching needed to produce your rings will be provided. The course takes place at the Bishopsland Educational Trust, Hills Yard, Buscot, Faringdon SN7 8BY.
