  1. *The stableyards and path down to the East Lawn are accessible via wheelchair or buggy, but do include a moderate hill. The outdoor areas on the route are step-free; however, the route to the historic drive involves grass paths which may become muddy or waterlogged. There are steps inside the main house route. The extended version of the route is long and encounters uneven terrain, as well as gates.

  2. **Dogs are welcome on all areas of the walk except for inside the house. Dogs should be kept on short leads inside the grounds, including the stableyards, but may be off lead and under close control in the parkland when there are no livestock grazing. Please follow signage and if you are unsure, always keep your dog on a lead.

    Start point

Start at the main car park.

    Stage 1

Starting from the main car park, walk through the gate or the Ticket Office and keep right, following the path with the Riding School building to your left. Turn left through the archway just before you reach the gate in the fence that leads onto the road, and you will find yourself in the stableyards. What3Words: declines.dogs.spindles. The Stableyards was transformed for filming; first, as an 18th century Savannah for 'Outlander', and then as a neglected estate in 1940s Britain for 'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man'.

Red brick buildings in the stableyards at Calke Abbey surround a large courtyard. An archway in the centre leads through to another courtyard in the distance, with bright green painted doors framing either side.

    Stage 2

Leave the stableyards by heading under the bell tower archway and turn left, following the path downhill towards the house. When you emerge at the house, continue to follow the path and turn left round the corner. You'll see the East Lawn ahead of you, with an interpretation panel exploring which scenes were filmed here. What3Words: resources.limes.improve.

    Stage 3

Head into the house, showing your National Trust membership card or your house ticket. Several rooms and corridors inside the House were used for 'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man'. The House team had to move over 1,300 collection items, and carefully protect fragile features within the historic interiors, to make these spaces available for filming. Keep an eye out for interpretation panels in the rooms that were featured.

    Stage 4

If you have entered the house, head straight for the kitchen as you exit. If you didn't go inside the house, walk past the front of the house (keeping it on your right), turn right around the corner, and enter the doorway to your right. What3Words: hoaxes.clogging.entire. Explore the kitchen, which was featured in 'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man', and then continue on through the courtyard to reach the tunnels. Please note a house ticket is not needed to enter the kitchen or tunnels.

    Stage 5

Upon exiting the tunnel at the Brewhouse, you'll see the Weighbridge ahead of you. What3Words: look.relating.impressed. The frontages of several buildings were constructed near the Weighbridge for 'Outlander', including a rope works, print shop, livery and harbour entrance.

    Stage 6

Opposite the Weighbridge, turn right and walk round the corner so the bell tower is to your right. Head straight through through the white gates in front of you and left down to the historic drive. Make sure to cross the road at the gates, being mindful of traffic coming from three directions, and walk along the grass bank, keeping the drive to your left. Please avoid walking on the road for safety reasons. Continue down the hill until you reach the historic drive, which leads off to the right. What3Words: believer.booms.piled.

    Stage 7

If you'd prefer to do a shorter walk, the trail ends here - head back to the car park the way you came, walking back up the hill, crossing safely and going through the small wooden gate in front of the Riding School. From there walk straight on towards the Ticket Office and you will reach the main car park. If you'd like to do a longer walk, continue along the historic drive to the Tramway Trail (Step 8).

    Stage 8

Follow the historic drive until you reach a small gate in the wall. Don't go through the gate, but turn right to walk alongside the wall, keeping it on your left. When you reach the road, pass through the gate to follow the Tramway Trail (with green waymarkers), with the wall to your right. Keep following the path down the hill, through the woods, turning right to reach the car park at Calke Explore. Continue straight on, keeping the car park to your right, then head uphill through the woods. When you emerge out of the woods, follow signs to take the next right turn through the trees (red waymarked). Take the path a short way until you reach a wooden gate. After you go through the gate, you will see Middle Lodge on your left over the hill, where Tommy Shelby left through the archway. Go through the gate and keep an eye out for signage explaining which scenes were filmed here. What3Words: slime.patio.modifies. To get back to the main car park, either turn and head back the way you came, or follow the red waymarkers. The route will take you back down the hill away from Middle Lodge, with the drive on your right, before passing through a gate and follow a path through woodland and past ponds before ascending to the car park.

    End point
