Something strange is happening at Ilam Park… cows are walking backwards, cats are dancing the tango, and mysteriously, all the cakes have vanished! The wise Old Crone has arrived to investigate and she needs your help.
Join her on a digital, self-guided trail around Ilam Park, where you’ll listen to her voicenotes and uncover clues about the mischievous Stranger Folk who have slipped through a crack between our world and the spirit realm. Complete three magical activities to help close the crack and restore balance to the park.
This Halloween adventure is perfect for children aged 7+ and silly adults who love a bit of spooky fun and teamwork.
You can download the Stranger Folk App before your visit, or once you arrive at the Stable Yard.

While there are steps in some areas of Ilam Park, the Stranger Folk trail is self-guided, so you can choose your own route. The adventure can therefore be enjoyed along our accessible paths.
- Meeting point
Start your adventure at the Stable Yard, where you’ll receive the magic word to unlock the Crone’s spooky trail around Ilam Park.

Wear sturdy footwear, walking boots or wellies and wrap up warm - the weather changes very quickly across the Peak District!

Park at Ilam Park car park, NT members park for free and for non-members it is £6 for 4 hours and £8 for all day.
