Steel Cotton Rail Trail: Hope to Edale
A moderate guided walk beginning at Hope Station and ending at Edale Station via Backside Wood and Nether Booth.
- Booking essential
To celebrate 130 years of the Hope Valley train line passenger service, we are leading a series of guided walks traversing the entire length of the Peak District from Dore to Chinley. Each walk will begin and end at a different train station, exploring the peaks and footpaths that flank England’s most picturesque train line.
The fifth section is a moderate 7-mile walk beginning at Hope Station and ending at Edale Station. The route follows the River Noe, crisscrossing the Hope Valley Line, before straying North to Edale End and Backside Wood. The walk then follows the approach of Kinder Scout to Nether Booth and onto Edale village.
This walk includes short sections of road, a steep ascent and an uneven footpath. Dogs on leads are welcome but there may be some stiles. The walk is not suitable for pushchairs or prams.
These walks coincide with the launch of High Peak and Hope Valley Community Rail Partnership’s Steel Cotton Rail Trail. This waymarked trail snakes from Midland Station in the centre of Sheffield to Piccadilly Station in Manchester.
