Have lots of fun at our action-packed Summer of Play. From 29 July to 27 August, families will be spoilt for choice – with games, crafts, sports and activities including soft archery and orienteering. You can even try your hand at family folk dance sessions. Why not enjoy an ice cream, relaxing in front of Longshaw’s café or find a shady picnic spot within the estate? Put your sun hat on and come and make the most of being outdoors this summer. Summer of Play is sponsored by Starling Bank.

Free drop in activities daily

Longshaw Estate extends a very warm welcome to anyone who wants to take part in our nature themed events and simply let the spontaneous spirit of play take over.

Drop in for our daily activities which run throughout the school holidays. There’s something for all the family; whether you’d like to test your skills at pine cone mini-golf or take time to relax at the wonderous cloud gazing station.

You can spot Longshaw's colourful bird species, from our bird hide or spy minibeasts and insects using special magnifying glasses.

Fun for all the family

Longshaw offers a wonderful variety of activities to keep you occupied and entertained.  You can try your hand at new experiences on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, between 28 July and 27 August throughout the summer holidays, in the Moorland Discovery Centre.

Learn the basics of soft archery with a lesson and practice session from our friendly team who offer a fun and safe experience.  These are always popular sessions, so you might be asked to sign up on the day.

You can try your hand at orienteering - where you’ll use a simple map to find different checkpoints. This family-friendly introduction to orienteering is ideal for children aged 5 to 11 years old.

Get on your feet with Sheffield-based dance workshop facilitators Shake Out! on 12 and 13 August. Playful movement and dance games combine with live and recorded folk music from around the world. This unique opportunity to connect with the power of dance is free of charge but booking is required.

Or if you’d simply like to soak up the summer vibes at Longshaw, you can make the most of being outdoors and create your own memorable moments along the way.
