The George Maw Walk: 3.5 miles - Walk & Talk, Dog Friendly.
- Booking essential
- Admission applies
Let’s discover George Maw. The most amazing Global Influencer you’ve never heard of!
George Maw is perhaps best known locally as one of two brothers who set up Maw and Co. Encaustic Tiles during the 19th century. However, Maw was also a great Victorian polymath with interests in many fields including geology and botany. On this walk, you will explore Maw’s interests, from his original tile factory on Bridge Bank and across Benthall Edge to his home of 30 years, Benthall Hall, where he created a botanical garden. You will discover how his influence stretched the world as well as the great names he rubbed shoulders with. The walk includes steep inclines and steps.
The walk stops for a refreshment break at Benthall Hall but there will not be time to go into the Hall.
