Snap Skool - Capturing the Ness

Do you love exploring? Do you love nature and being creative? Why not become a visual detective and explore the beauty, diversity and history of Orford Ness through the camera's lens. Join us on our half day practical photography workshop.

The workshop explores Orford Ness in a creative and playful way. You will learn how to use a DSLR camera whilst developing a creative understanding of designing and composing landscape and detailed imagery.

You will use scavenger hunts and creative challenges to drive your ideas and imagination.

We will look at macro photography and how to document and photograph found items in an innovation and artistic way. You will also have the opportunity to experiment with light and create a Cyantone image using the power of the sun.

All equipment is supplied providing access to a DSLR camera. You are, however, welcome to bring your own camera or you can even use your phone camera if you'd prefer.

Meeting point

Check in at the Orford Ness ticket office on Orford Quay at 10.15am for a 10.30am ferry crossing. Return ferries at 2.30pm.

What to bring and wear

Come dressed for all weathers! Bring your packed lunch with you as we don't have any shops on Orford Ness. Wear comfortable shoes as there will be some walking involved.

This overnight event allows participants to engage with fleeting light of sunrise and sunset at this incredible landscape. Respond to the changes of hue, texture and opacity over land, sky and sea as the sun sets and rises.
