Heritage Open Days at Claremont Landscape Garden
On Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September, visitors can enjoy Claremont Landscape Garden for free as part of Heritage Open Days.

For the first time since 2019, visitors will be able to open the historic Belvedere Tower, alsongside the Grade 1 listed garden's serpentine lake, grotto, amphitheatre and panoramic views.
For one day only on Saturday 20 September, a special collaboration with Claremont Fan Court School allows visitors a rare opportunity to explore both the historic landscape garden and the elegant mansion house in one unforgettable experience. A gate between the two properties will be opened to celebrate Heritage Open Day, allowing guests to wander freely between the garden and the school grounds.
At Claremont Fan Court School, guests will be invited to explore selected rooms of the historic mansion’s ground floor on a free-flow basis between 10am and 5pm. Visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour exploring the mansion’s rich and varied history.
Belvedere Tower self-guided tours, 10am - 3pm:
- Maximum of 20 people at a time.
- Please limit your visit to 15 minutes to allow others to explore
- Please be patient as we monitor the stairs at the top and bottom.
- No dogs.

The basics

Access to the amphitheatre is via steep grass ramps. Mostly level gravel paths around the lake, with some uneven surfaces and steeper paths around the garden. The walk to the Belvedere Tower is less accessible, with some incline along the way. The Belvedere Tower has 55 steps on a spiral staircase. Please ring the office for more information.

On Saturday, parking will be available at both sites, with the gate between the two properties closing at 4pm. Please allow plenty of time to get back to your car. Car parking at Claremont Fan Court School.will be available at the top car park via Portsmouth Road. Accessible parking in front of the mansion should be booked in advance by contacting alumni@claremont.surrey.sch.uk or calling 01372 467841.
