Statement Centrepiece Bowl Arrangement and Blousy Free-Form Vase Design - A Full Day Experience
The day begins with rare access to Munstead Wood’s gardens, created by Gertrude Jekyll as her private idyll. On a guided walk, you will trace the garden’s paths, encountering its careful vistas, while gaining insight into Jekyll’s approach. Returning to the house, you will pause in the flower room before entering her workshop to begin the creative sessions, led by Leanne of Wildstone Botanica, whose work is rooted in a deep sensitivity to place, material, and narrative.
The morning focuses on a centrepiece bowl arrangement. Core principles such as balance, proportion, and colour harmony are explored. You will then create your own within a beautiful ceramic bowl. All fresh materials are locally grown and chosen in response to the gardens at Munstead Wood. Leanne will share insight into creating centrepiece designs, using and sourcing sustainable materials with intention and creativity.
The afternoon focuses on a blousy free-form vase arrangement, with a demonstration centred on movement, texture, and presence. You will then create your own, building on the principles introduced earlier. The session encourages expression, to create an elevated naturalistic design. Leanne will offer guidance on developing a personal floral language, taking a measured approach to cutting from your own garden, and reflect on the elements of Jekyll’s floristry influence contemporary design.
