The Secret Language of Trees
Discover the secrets of the woodlands at Polesden Lacey on this ranger-led tour. Taking place every Monday from 19 August until 28 October.
- Booking advisable
Unlocking some of Polesden Lacey's natural treasures, this fascinating tour focuses on the trees and woodlands. Discover amazing facts about these majestic plants as you breathe in the peace and tranquillity of a landscape that has changed little since Medieval times. It is also an opportunity to learn what goes into conserving the woodland to ensure it can be enjoyed by generations to come. We will be looking at what active woodland management looks like and why its so important. Some of the work this involves including rides and glades, creating open space for light, coppicing and the usable product this creates. We will also be diving into the important of ancient and veteran trees and how special these are. This will all be wrapped up under the umbrella of how woodlands function, how trees communicate and the importance of our soils and fungi.
Please note that the tour is free. If there are spaces on the day, you are welcome to join the tour but booking is advised to avoid disappointment.
