From valleys to views a enjoyable walk taking in one of the most iconic views on the South Downs

Join our knowledgeable local guides for a walk taking you on a route along the pretty riverbank of the Cuckmere River before heading up onto the top of the Downs where you head towards the famous Long Man of Wilmington. The walk tracks down the hill where you literally stand underneath this 72 meter tall giant before heading down into the very pretty village of Wilmington. The walk takes you to the 600 year old church of St Marys and St Peters home to a yew tree believed to be over 1600 years planted in 400 AD by Pagans before heading back across the fields and along the river bank to Alfriston. (aprrox.4.3 miles)

What to bring and wear

Walking footwear is recommended as this walk is over rough ground.

Accessibility

The walk has one reasonably long steady ascent and descent. The walk will be supported by two guides. There maybe livestock in some of the fields.

Other

The duration of the walk is between 2 and 2 1/2 hours Ticket does no include entry to the house and gardens, if you would like to visit the property a private tour on the day can be arranged - normal admission applies.
