The Landscape of Life - a creative writing workshop with Jill Hucklesby

Award-winning author and playwright, Jill Hucklesby delivers this writing workshop exploring literary landscapes in the beautiful garden at Monk’s House with views of Mount Caburn. Ticket includes a visit to Virginia Woolf's writing lodge.

  • Booking essential

In this workshop participants will look at extracts from Virginia Woolf's writing and fellow Sussex author, Hilaire Belloc. These will provide a light framework for the session and writers will be able to take inspiration from these, and the rural surroundings, before creating new work in their chosen style. The workshop will take place in the serene space of the Monk's House garden on one of our closed days. Along with other participants you will have the space to yourself, the space to write. A marquee/ awning cover will be provided for shelter along with tables and chairs, and other areas of the garden can used as spaces to be inspired by, and write in. We recommend you bring layers in case the weather is cooler and a cushion! Participants will have the opportunity for an exclusive visit to Virginia Woolf's writing lodge which looks out across the bowling lawn and has views across to Mount Caburn, and the brick terrace outside was a favourite gathering space for friends and family.

All abilities welcome. Please bring pen and paper, and a cushion for your chair. Maximum 12 spaces.
