Abstract and Expressive Painting Workshop

Join this one-day workshop to create expressive paintings in a playful response to music.

  • Booking essential

Local tutor Amanda Duke will guide you through creating a selection of abstract and expressive paintings in response to music.

Whilst a variety of music plays, from jazz, to electronic and classical, use your intuition to practice markmaking and become familiar with textural surface qualities playfully, using a range of brushes and tools.

Throughout the day you will create 4-6 paintings using acrylic paint on high quality paper. You will explore colour; mixing hues and tones to create mood, light and atmosphere.

References to works by JMW Turner, Kandinsky and Paul Klee, to name a few, will be made to demonstrate key learning points and help make sense of abstraction.

Suitable for all skill levels, from beginner to experienced.

All materials will be provided.

Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day.
