Bracken Bashing in Sheffield Wood with our Rangers

Help the rangers in their conservation work in this fun, active day in the woods.

  • Booking essential
  • Admission applies

Why bracken bashing? Bracken is a fast-growing fern that can quickly dominate an area and prevent other plants from getting enough sunlight and nutrients. By controlling the bracken, we are allowing wildflowers, grasses, and native tree saplings to thrive, which in turn creates a more diverse habitat for insects, birds and small mammals.

We will provide the necessary tools but please bring gloves, plenty to drink and a packed lunch – there is food available to purchase from The Shant café in the gardens (cash only) or from our main Café, which is a 15/20 minute walk away.

Suitable for Age 10+. This event includes working with tools.

Please note that the nearest toilets are at Visitor Reception.
