The Royal Mint - A talk by Chris Barker
Learn about some of the thousand years of history of the Royal Mint. The Mint relocated from London to Llantrisant, however, we know that copper coins were also smelted at our very own Aberdulais site back in 1584!

Chris Barker is an Operations Manager at The Royal Mint. He began working as Assistant Curator at the Royal Mint Museum. He regularly gives talks on the history of the Royal Mint and has spoken on topics as varied as the Royal Mint during the First World War through to the introduction of the £1 coin. He is currently researching the role of the Sovereign in post-war Europe, which he hopes to publish sometime in the coming year.

This free talk will be held in the Old Works Library, now our second-hand bookshop. This is the white building on the left as you enter the site through the gates.
- What to bring and wear
There is the option to serve yourself a tea or a coffee (donations welcomed). feel free to bring snacks or a picnic and stay to enjoy the site after the talk.
- Accessibility
There is a ramp into the book-shop to provide access for wheelchairs. The site is flat with a level path.
