Castle of Culture: Dinefwr and the Spirit of the Sixties

For three years in the 1960s, Dinefwr became a vibrant centre for modern art, music, film and theatre promoted by the youthful 9th Lord Dynevor, Richard Rhys. Come and visit our new exhibition space on our first floor. Curated by Peter Wakelin.

  • Free event (admission applies)

Castle of Culture: Dinefwr and the Spirit of the Sixties tells the story of a series of arts festivals which brought the spirit of the sixties to the west Wales countryside.

People such as celebrated jazz performers Cleo Laine and Johnny Dankworth, leading operatic baritone Sir Geraint Evans, prominent composers Alun Hoddinott, Malcom Williamson and Sir Michael Tippett and award-winning author and dramatist Emyr Humphreys.
