- Booking essential
- Free event
Join this walk, part of the Shrill Carder bee project for a chance to meet our rarest bumblebee!
The day will start at The National Trust's Gupton farm campsite, where we will briefly learn about the management of the site and learn about the Shrill Carder bee Wales' fastest declining bumblebee. There will be a brief intro with identification tips in the field.
We will then explore the site making our way down to Freshwater West dunes, identifying bumblebees and other pollinators as we walk. Participants will have a chance to contribute to the national citizen science scheme Bee walk and learn from professional conservationists who are working to protect the species on site.
Participants will then have the option to break for lunch (Don't forget to pack your sandwiches) at the dunes before returning to Gupton farm.
This event is free and is suitable for adults of all abilities, including absolute beginners, although to get the most out of it we recommend familiarising yourself with some of the Trust's training webinars in identifying Common Bumblebees. These can be found the Bumblebee Conservation Trusts website.
