Poetry Workshop - Listening to the Walls

Join us for a poetry workshop exploring reflection, wellbeing and creative response to the Charterhouse.

  • Admission applies

Listening to the Walls is a gentle, accessible poetry workshop exploring reflection, wellbeing and creative response to a historic space.

Led by poet DK, the session invites participants to slow down and respond to the Charterhouse through observation, imagination and perspective.

Using simple prompts such as, “If this wall could speak…”, participants will be encouraged to engage with the building and its wall paintings in ways that feel comfortable to them - through writing, listening, or quiet reflection. No prior writing experience is needed, and sharing work is always optional.

This workshop is designed to be inclusive and welcoming, offering a calm space to explore creativity, contemplation and connection.

About DK: DK is a poet, music producer, and accessibility advocate based in the West Midlands. They are the co-founder of AccessAbility Arts and have extensive experience delivering inclusive creative workshops across heritage spaces, community venues, and cultural organisations.

As a wheelchair user with lived experience of disability, DK embeds accessibility into all aspects of their practice. Their work focuses on identity, wellbeing, disability, and belonging, and aims to create spaces where people feel safe to reflect, express themselves, and be heard.

Official carers can come for free, and do not need to purchase a ticket.
