Festival of Archaeology 2026

Join us as we celebrate the UK's annual Festival of Archaeology from 18 July to 2 August 2026. Uncover hidden histories with excavations, expert talks, and guided walks, or get hands-on with crafts and dig boxes. Find events and activities at a number of places in our care.

About the Festival of Archaeology

The Festival of Archaeology is the biggest archaeological celebration in the UK. Whether you’re an archaeological amateur or the next Indiana Jones, there are plenty of opportunities to discover more about history at the places in our care. The festival is organised by the Council for British Archaeology.

    Archaeological work

We look after many rich and diverse archaeological sites. Archaeology helps us to learn more about them and protect them for the future.
