Everyone is welcome to join our Carols by Candlelight services in the Cellarium. Pick up a candle on your way in and see the flickering glow of hundreds of candles as you sing along to well known carols accompanied by Ripon City Band.

Entry to the cellarium for the service will open at 2pm and please be seated by 2:30pm for the service to start at 3pm.

Tickets are free with normal admission. We highly recommend pre-booking for this event however, there may be a limited amount of tickets on the door due to last minute cancellations. These tickets will be released at 2:30pm at the abbey cellarium on the day of the event. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee these tickets will be available on the day, the only way to ensure that you'll be able to attend this event is to pre-book a ticket.

Meeting point

Meet in the abbey cellarium. Entry to the abbey cellarium for the service will open at 2pm and please be seated by 2:30pm for the service to start at 3pm.

What to bring and wear

Please wrap up warm and wear study footwear. Please bring a torch with you to illuminate your way around the estate.

Accessibility

Access from the visitor centre to the abbey cellarium includes a 15-20% downhill gradient. There are hard standing paths in the abbey. Access to the abbey is across a level grassy green. When the grass is particularly wet this can be impassable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and prams. The West Gate entrance provides level access to the abbey. Seating is provided for the service.
