Help the rangers: Big Butterfly Count

Join us for the Big Butterfly Count 2024

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Come and learn about the butterfly species that live at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal whilst helping our wildlife team count them in this national conservation survey.

Pick up your check sheet and count as many butterflies as you see within 15 minutes. You can either tally your butterfly findings as you wander the estate or stand in one place for 15 minutes and tally how many butterflies you find in one area. How many will you spot? What species will you discover?

You can either download the Big Butterfly Count App and record your own butterfly finds. Or, once you've finished your adventure, head back to the gazebo and tell the Wildlife Team what you saw so they can record your findings.

Drop in any time between 10am and 4pm.
