Sphagnum Plug Planting
Join the Rangers for a walk up to Holme Moor to plant sphagnum moss as part of our restoration works.
- Booking not needed
- Free event
Join the Rangers and help them restore the blanket bog habitat by planting sphagnum moss on Holme Moor.
This moss holds up to 10 times its mass in water and once it’s established, it acts as a big sponge, holding water on the moor for longer.
Meet at Marsden Park, bandstand at 10.30am (w3w: ///tonight.proposals.backyards) or up on the moor from 11am (w3w:///clings.stooping.conquests ).
Please bring lunch and plenty of water (hot drinks advised).
Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy boots or preferably wellies. As we will be planting into wet areas of moorland.
If you can, please also bring your own dibber (eg: a wooden spoon or screwdriver).
