October Half Term: Creepy Crawlies

Join us for a week of family fun as we uncover the fascinating (and sometimes spooky!) world of bugs, beasts and little creatures that live in and around the house and gardens.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Creepy Crawly Outdoor Trail

Head into the gardens and follow a special trail designed by creative students from Trinity Academy Halifax. From buzzing bees to wriggly worms, take on family-friendly challenges and activities along the way.

11am – 5pm | Free (standard admission applies)

Get hands-on in the house workshop and make your own paper-craft creepy crawly and enjoy colouring sheets to bring the theme to life. Perfect for little hands and big imaginations.

11am – 4pm | Free (standard admission applies)

Creepy Crawly House Trail

Step inside the house and learn more about the tiny bugs and pests that can cause damage indoors. From moths to woodlice, find out how the conservation team work hard to look after precious books, carpets and fabrics where the bugs like to hide and have a nibble.

11am – 4pm | Free (standard admission applies)

If you still have oodles of energy and would like another fun adventure - there's a pumpkin rock challenge for you in the parkland. There are bright orange pumpkin rocks hidden for you to find on your adventure.

In need of a hot beverage? head to the café for an autumnal pumpkin spiced drink.

Please note: last entry to the house is 3:15pm and the house closes at 4pm
