Steeped in history, Nunnington Hall provides the perfect backdrop for a traditional Christmas day out. This year we've embraced community and co-creation and are excited to introduce 'Nature's Noel: A Greener Christmas'.
The elves are busy putting plans in place for what visitors can expect in Christmas 2026. More details will be updated soon, until then, here's a flavour of 2025.
10.30am - 4pm (last admission 3pm)
A beautiful festive experience created in collaboration with local charities, social groups, schools, and community members.
We have invited organisations to decorate Christmas trees around the theme of 'caring for nature'. Each tree will feature eco-friendly decorations made from natural or recycled materials, reflecting our shared commitment to the environment. Around 20 trees will be displayed throughout the Hall, each telling a unique story of community spirit and care for the planet. Complementing this will be natural displays, garlands, wreaths, and swags.
Open 4 - 8pm (last entry 7.30pm) - bring a torch
For two evenings in December, the hall will be open to wander around at a time not usually open to visitors when the candles glow and the decorations look truly enchanting.
On these special evenings you can gather around the firepit and enjoy a mulled mine or spiced apple & cinnamon drink, pigs in blanket hot dogs and toasted marshmallows, before exploring the house dressed for Christmas. If you prefer to be inside, head to the tearoom, serving its full seasonal menu with last orders at 7.30pm.
Please note the gardens will be closed during the late night opening evenings.
No need to book, normal admission applies, with free entry to National Trust members and under fives.

Treat you and your family to some delicious festive specials during your visit.
Tuck into turkey and stuffing baps or turkey cranberry and stuffing croque in the beautifully decorated tearoom, and choose a festive treat to finish, including crumble topped mince pie, yule log or a hot Christmas pudding served with brandy sauce.
Our festive hot drinks are also not to be missed with mulled wine, mulled apple juice and a mince pie hot chocolate all on the menu.

Father Christmas and his friendly elf are visiting and look forward to meeting many of you in the panelled bedroom. Tickets for these have now all gone.
For those booked, make your way to the room, no more than 5 minutes before your allocated time slot. If you have a later ticket, be sure to arrive in good time to visit the house and tea-room before they close.

Make a day of it and refuel in the tearoom, located within the historic house with views across the garden, or head to the walled tea gardens to relax on the riverbank. Treat yourself to a delicious scone, tasty soup or freshly prepared lunch.

Nunnington Hall hosts a programming of changing exhibitions throughout the year. Recently we have welcomed established artists, photographers, illustrators and sculptors alongside new artists and community groups to display their work in the gallery.

There's plenty for all of the family to do on a visit to Nunnington Hall. From art exhibitions to games, crafts and more, including our Lion's Den play area.

A dwelling is recorded here since 1249, but the current house grew out of a Tudor Hall. Over 450 years the house has been altered to create an atmospheric and comfortable home.

The garden at Nunnington Hall is the perfect place to enjoy some peace and quiet. Peaceful hidden spots, colourful peacocks and colourful flowers offer a great day out.
