Visiting Woolbeding Gardens: What you need to know

We look forward to welcoming you to Woolbeding Gardens. The gardens, second-hand bookshop and toilets are open, and pre-booked timed tickets are required to enter the Gardens. Here's some helpful information about how to book tickets, what to expect and what is on offer when you visit.

Booking a timed ticket 

You’ll need to book your visit in advance via our website. We’ll be turning people away who arrive and haven’t booked, even if you’re a member. No on the day bookings are possible, and visitors must arrive within their allocated time slot.

  • Please book one ticket per person. You must also book a ticket each for children aged 5 or under. 

  • The gardens are open from 10:30am-4:30pm, but you must arrive within your allocated time slot. We advise two to three hours are needed to enjoy the gardens.

  • You’ll need to choose a time for the day you want to visit. This time is when your bus leaves the minibus meeting point in nearby Midhurst if you are travelling by car, as there is no on-site parking. If you are walking or cycling, please arrive at the gardens at the time indicated on your ticket.

  • Please note from 19 July face coverings remain mandatory on the minibus from Midhurst to the gardens, unless exempt please bring one along with you.

  • The gardens, second-hand bookshop and toilets are open. There are no catering facilities or shop on site. 

  • We'll send your booking confirmation by email. Please make sure you fill in your correct email address when you book to ensure you receive your confirmation email. 

  • Entry is free for members, but please bring your membership card with you. Non-members will need to pay in advance when pre-booking a ticket.

  • If you are a Blue Badge holder and require use of a disabled parking space onsite, please call the Garden Office on 01730 811960 to book your bay prior to booking admission tickets through our website. More information can be found below.  

  • Assistance dogs only are welcome in the gardens. 

  • Bookings are for your use only and are not available for resale.

  • There is strictly no parking allowed along the lanes outside Woolbeding Gardens.

  • Please note, the Woolbeding Glasshouse and Silk Route Garden will not be open until spring 2022.

How to get here and where to park 

Please note that there is no onsite or local parking at Woolbeding Gardens. We operate a complimentary minibus service, to and from the property. All visitors need to park in the Grange Centre car park, Bepton Road, Midhurst, West Sussex, (SATNAV: GU29 9HD). Please wait at the National Trust signposted collection point. The minibus leaves the Grange Centre car park on a regular schedule, commencing at 10.30am. Buses leave at their allotted times. If you arrive after your timeslot, we can’t guarantee you entry. Entry will be at the discretion of the property staff based on visitor numbers and minibus capactiy. Please note that the Grange car park is managed by Chichester District Council, and there is a car parking charge that applies. Disabled parking for Blue Badge Holders is available onsite but needs to be arranged in advance prior to booking a garden entry ticket. Please call the Garden Office on 01730 811960 to book a disabled parking bay.  

You can also reach the gardens by walking or cycling, however it is essential that you pre-book your entry ticket in advance through our website. You must also arrive during your allocated time slot. There is a bike rack on site used on a first come first served basis. Bikes are welcome to be left at the visitor centre at the responsibility and risk of the owner.  

Bring a picnic 

There are no catering facilities or shop on site at Woolbeding Gardens. Picnics are welcome in the gardens, so do bring along a picnic rug or choose one of the benches located across the garden to take a break and enjoy a home-made flask of tea and sandwiches.

Staying Safe

To help keep everyone safe, please follow the latest guidance on your visit. And look out for signs while you’re here which will explain any changes to how you can access different parts of the site.

If you’re showing any of the symptoms of coronavirus, or if you've been in contact with anyone that has the virus in the last 14 days, please don’t visit.

Accessibility  

There is limited disabled parking available at the gardens for Blue Badge holders, which must be booked in advance. Please call the Garden Office on 01730 811960 to reserve a bay prior to booking your garden entry ticket. There are also two wheelchairs available to reserve upon request, which are also bookable through the Garden Office. An accessible toilet is located in Visitor Reception, to the left of the entrance door. 

Please be aware that there are steps to certain areas of the garden, along with cobbled paths, grass slopes and rough terrain. There are also several water features, including fountains, a lake and a swimming pool in the garden. For more detailed access advice please ask the Visitor Reception team upon arrival. Assistance dogs are welcome in the gardens.
