Christmas at Ashridge

Decorated Christmas tree at Ashridge, Herts

The 2019 festive season at Ashridge is filled with fun for all the family. Whether you come along for one of our exciting Christmas events or for a wintery Christmas walk, there’s plenty to get you feeling the spirit of the season here on the estate.

Festive fun for the kids

Listen out for sugarplum fairies this Christmas at Ashridge as our children's trail gets underway. This year, it's a retelling of the Nutcracker with a special woodland twist. Follow the panels through the woods and look out for special woodland characters along the way. At the end, there will be a special Christmas gift for every child at the end.

The trail runs every Saturday and Sunday in December, as well as Thursday 26 and Friday 27 December, from 10am to 3pm. The trail costs just £3 per child, which includes the present at the end.

This year our Christmas pudding walk is returning for those wanting to do some exploring in the woods. The new route is around 1.5 miles long and is self-led – simply follow the Christmas pudding way markers that start at the visitor centre. Be sure to bring your wellies as this path does not follow surfaced tracks. This walk is available from Monday 2 December until Monday 6 January.

Wreath-making workshops

Our wreath making workshops are back by popular demand. Our skilled workshop leaders will be on hand to teach you how build a stunning Christmas wreath using greenery collected from the estate.

This year our workshops will be held on Tuesday 3 and Thursday 5 December from 1 to 3.30pm. All materials are included in the price of £30 and there will even be mince pies and mulled juice to get you in the festive spirit. Call us 01442 851227 to book - don't leave it too long as spaces are limited.
