Christmas at Ashridge

Post Christmas walk at Ashridge Herts

The 2018 festive season at Ashridge is filled with fun for all the family. Whether you come along for one of our exciting Christmas events or for a wintery Christmas walk, there’s plenty to get you feeling the spirit of the season here on the estate.

Festive fun for the kids

Our Christmas trail this December will let you explore some specially decorated dens around Ashridge. This year, Santa has lost his list and doesn’t know how many presents to bring to the animal families here on the estate. By following our trail, you can explore the homes of our forest friends to find out how many presents Santa needs to bring on his sleigh. To say thank you for all your help, there will be a special Christmas gift for every child at the end.

The trail runs every Saturday and Sunday in December, as well as Wednesday 26, Thursday 27 and Friday 28 December, from 10am to 3pm. The trail costs just £3 per child, which includes the present at the end.

Take a seasonal stroll

This year our Christmas pudding walk is returning for those wanting to do some exploring in the woods. The new route is around 1.5 miles long and is self-led – simply follow the Christmas pudding way markers that start at the visitor centre. Be sure to bring your wellies as this path does not follow surfaced tracks. This walk is available from Monday 3 December until Monday 7 January.

Wreath making workshops

Our wreath making workshops are back by popular demand. Our skilled workshop leaders will be on hand to teach you how build a stunning Christmas wreath using greenery collected from the estate.

This year our workshops will be held on Monday 10, Wednesday 12 and Monday 17 December from 1 to 3.30pm. All materials are included in the price of £30 and there will even be mince pies and mulled juice to get you in the festive spirit. Call us 01442 851227 to book - don't leave it too long as spaces are limited.

See Santa with your four-legged friend

Father Christmas is returning to Ashridge on Sunday 9 December for Santa Paws, a merry dog walk around Meadleys Meadow from 11am to 12pm. Add some sparkle to your dog’s lead and collar and follow Father Christmas on a jolly ramble to get your pooch into the yuletide spirit. There’s no need to book in advance, just show up and pay £1 per dog on the day to contribute towards the upkeep of Ashridge.
