Christmas at Ashridge

Dog walking at Ashridge Herts in winter

Old favourites and new treats to enjoy this holiday season. Bring the whole family to join in the Christmas activities at Ashridge. Pick up some gifts from our shop for those on your Christmas list, follow our Christmas pudding walk through the woods or take part in one of our festive family events.

Something for the whole family at Ashridge this Christmas

We know that our visitors look forward to joining in our festivities each Christmas and this year we have some old favourites and new treats for you to enjoy.

Let off some steam

We've set up a new self-guided walk route for those looking to do some woodland exploring this Christmas. The walk is around 1.5 miles long and follows a new route different from last year's holiday walk. Just head to the visitor centre and look for the red Christmas pudding roundels. Be sure to bring your wellies as this path does not follow surfaced tracks. Our Christmas pudding self-guided walk will be available from 27 November to 8 January.

Wreath making workshops

Back by popular demand - our wreath making workshops where you can learn how to make your own decorative wreath. Our workshop leaders will be on hand to help you build a wreath using greenery collected from the wider estate.

This year our workshops will be held on Monday 6 December and Wednesday 11 Decemeber from 1 to 3.30pm. All materials are included in the price of £30 and there will even be mince pies and mulled juice to get you in the festive spirit. To book call us on 01442 851227 - don't leave it too long as spaces are limited.

Lots for the kids to do

Christmas trail

This year our trail is about our friend, Mouse, and the other creatures that live at Ashridge. Follow their trail and help Mouse find materials to make the wonderful Christmas garland that decorates the visitor centre. There's a special Christmas gift for every child who takes part. The trail is on every weekend in December (except Christmas Eve) from 10am to 3pm and costs £3 per child. If you are looking for that perfect Christmas gift for your little one why not pop into the shop and buy your very own copy of Mouse's Christmas story?

Christmas crafts

Come and make your own Christmas wreath out of paper or maybe a finger mouse puppet. The dates for this year's crafts are Dec 26 to Dec 29, 10am to 3pm and the cost is £2 per child.

Jingle ponies

Again by popular request we are inviting families to come to Ashridge and watch the horses parade - all decked out for Christmas - up Monument Drive and around the green on Dec 17 between 11am and 12pm. Please note that riding in this event is open only to Ashridge permit holders or individuals who have taken part in an Ashridge Fun Ride in 2017.

Santa Paws walk

New this year, we are inviting you to bring your four-legged friend for a festive walk around the meadow on 10 December, from 12 to 1pm. Wear some tinsel or attach a bauble to the lead in celebration of Christmas and you might win a prize. Father Christmas himself will be in attendance to lead the procession. £1 per dog on the day.

When the festivities are over and you feel in need of some fresh air and exercise, join us for our annual post-Christmas walk on 27 December, 10am to 12pm. A fitting end to a fun-filled Christmas season. Tickets must be pre-booked for this event, and cost £5 per adult and £3 per child.
