Volunteer open day at Ashridge

Showing visitors insects at Ashridge, Herts

Visit Ashridge on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May from 10am-4pm to learn more about volunteering opportunities on the estate. From giving tours around the oldest post mill in Britain to helping more people get out into the countryside with our mobility vehicle service, there’s plenty to get involved with.

Learn more about volunteering

Whether you have lots of time or very little, our volunteer open day will give you the chance to learn more about the roles on offer at Ashridge.

If you are short of time, you can visit the team at our visitor welcome van at any point from 10am-4pm. They’ll be on hand to talk you through the various roles, answer your questions and work out what position would suit you.

However, if you can stick around for longer, we’ll be running tours at 11am and 2pm on both days to give you a taste of the various roles we have on offer, including manning the reception desk, shop, membership van and Bridgewater Monument.

At 1pm, there’ll be a taster session for anyone interested in helping with education and events. Or, if you’re interested in becoming one of our windmill tour guides, you’ll be able to attend a taster session at Pitstone Windmill at 3pm if you visit us on the Sunday.

Benefits of volunteering here

Volunteering here has many benefits. You’ll get to work in a beautiful environment and become part of a friendly team. Volunteers here are constantly meeting new people, giving you the opportunity to make new friends and to develop your skills.

If you complete at least 50 hours of service per year, you’ll be entitled to a volunteer card which includes a 20% discount in all Trust shops and cafés. You’ll also be invited to our annual volunteer party in February, as well as frequent coffee mornings at the visitor centre.
