Christmas visits to the Mansion at Attingham

The Sultana Room at Attingham dressed for a 1940s Christmas

This year, visits to the Mansion at Christmas will be by pre-booked timed ticket only. The Mansion will be open for 'A 1940s Christmas at Attingham' from Saturday 1 to Sunday 23 December. There will be three entry times on each day; between 10am and 12pm, between 12pm and 2pm and between 2pm and 3.30pm.

Many people visit Attingham each year as part of their Christmas traditions – to see the Mansion, and often, to visit Father Christmas while he’s here. We want to keep Christmas at Attingham special not just for this December, or even next December, but for many more to come.

By spreading visits throughout the day we’re aiming to offer everybody coming time to enjoy each festively decorated room at their own pace, and with enough space to do so. It will also help us to care for the collection and interior of the Grade I listed Mansion at this time of year by preventing overcrowding.

Thank you for your support, with your help we’re able to keep Attingham Christmas magical for ever, for everyone.

Below you'll find more information about how pre-booked tickets will work at Attingham this December and a link to book your tickets (live from mid-September).

How long will it take to visit the Mansion?

Once inside the Mansion there is no time restriction on how long you may visit for, provided you enter between the times on your ticket. E.g. you have booked to visit the Mansion between 12pm and 2pm  - you can enter the Mansion at any time within that 2 hour period and visit at your own pace. Please note the Mansion will close at 4pm, and you will not be able to re-enter the Mansion again unless it is within your timed entry session.

Visits to the Mansion at Christmas take anything from 45 minutes to 1½ hours.

Is there an additional charge to visit the Mansion?

There is no additional charge to visit the Mansion but you must have pre-booked your ticket in advance for everyone, including for National Trust members. For non-members please pre-book your ticket in advance, you will then be asked to pay the non-member admission on arrival on the day of your visit

Booking to see Father Christmas when you visit?

Please do not book a separate Mansion ticket as your Father Christmas booking will reserved you a timed place to visit the Mansion. You can choose your time period to visit the Mansion on the day of your visit.

Father Christmas will be at Attingham Park daily from 1-23 December. Times may vary,  and all tickets must be pre-booked.

Please read the information on the event listing for Father Christmas (bookings live from mid-September) as this will detail how many tickets are included with your booking, and if this is sufficient please do not book additional tickets to visit the Mansion. Additional tickets to visit the Mansion will need to be booked by any additional people in your party over that amount. Non-members of the National Trust will need to pay the non-member admission price on arrival on the day of your visit.
