There will be a sprinkling of seasonal sparkle and a touch of Attingham Christmas magic in 2023.

Twinkling Christmas trees will welcome visitors to Attingham. Stroll along the twists and turns of the Mile Walk there are festive trees, inspired by classic fairy tales to spot. Enjoy Christmas magic in the Walled Garden where not everything is as it seems. Discover ‘All That Glitters’ inside the festively decorated Georgian Mansion. Experience a magical first for Attingham, a festive eco-rink.

With over 50 decorated trees on site ranging from 2ft-20ft Attingham this Christmas is not to be missed.

'All that Glitters' in the Mansion

Tickets to visit the Mansion between Saturday 2 December to Sunday 10 December are now live, click the button below to book.

With themed trees and decorations in each of the rooms, discover ‘All That Glitters’ inside the festively decorated Georgian Mansion at Attingham. Appearances can be deceptive, this Christmas we’ll be exploring stories of hidden depths and illusion alongside the glitz and glamour of Attingham at Christmas.

Enjoy ‘All that Glitters’ from Saturday 2 December to Monday 1 January (excluding Christmas Day) for pre-bookable festive visits.

Tickets to visit the Mansion are split into timed sessions through out the day (10.30am-12.30pm, 12.30pm- 2.30pm, 2.30pm- 4.30pm). Visitors can start their Mansion visit anytime during their session.

Tickets to visit the Mansion from Monday 11 December to Sunday 17 December will be available to book from Thursday 30 November 2023 via the website.

Tickets will be released in stages:

  • To visit the Mansion Saturday 2 December to Sunday 10 December.
    • Tickets will go on sale on Thursday 16 November.
  • To visit the Mansion Monday 11 December to Sunday 17 December.
    • Tickets will go on sale on Thursday 30 November.
  • To visit the Mansion Monday 18 December to Sunday 24 December.
    • Tickets will go on sale on Thursday 7 December.
  • To visit the Mansion Tuesday 26 December to Monday 1 January 2024.
    • Tickets will go on sale on Thursday 14 December.

Good to know:

  • All visits to the Mansion need to be pre-booked (closed Christmas Day).
  • On the day, online bookings will close at 8am and any remaining slots will be available for walk-ups.
  • Visitors can start their Mansion visit any time during their session.
  • Visitors to the Outdoors do not need to book.
  • National Trust members book for free, non-members pay admission fee at time of booking.

SEN relaxed sessions Christmas

Every Saturday morning in December from 9:30 am until 10:15 am the Mansion will be open for SEN (Special Educational Needs) relaxed sessions. These sessions will be quieter and more relaxed, especially designed for visitors on the Autism Spectrum or who have sensory processing difficulties and may find visiting during regular opening hours overwhelming. We ask visitors to please book onto these sessions in advance.

During these relaxed opening times we will have the following resources available to help visitors with their visit:

• Visual Story • Sensory maps • A small handling collection • Sensory bags from Visitor Reception • Ear Defenders from Visitor Reception.

Skate Attingham: Festive eco-rink

Experience a magical first at Attingham Park this Christmas: Skate Attingham!

During December, discover an innovative skate rink in the Outer Courtyard behind the Mansion. Put on a pair of special boots and glide on the synthetic acrylic ‘ice’ surface to enjoy a magical skating session at Attingham.

The eco-rink will be open for timed skating sessions from Saturday 2 December to Sunday 7 January (excluding Christmas Day). Pre-booking is strongly advised for this popular experience.

Tickets will cost £4 per child and £8 per adult, family tickets available (admission charges also apply for non-members of the National Trust).
Skate sessions last for 30 minutes and are suitable for children aged five years upwards, or those wearing infant size 8 shoes.

Christmas Outdoors at Attingham

Families visiting Attingham this in December will be able to treat their little ones to the magic of the ‘Tale Trail’. With decorated trees around the Mile Walk all themed around classic fairy tales, families will need to guess which tree has come from which tale. After completing the trail participants will take home a cuddly gingerbread man. The activity trail costs £4 per pack and can be purchased on arrival.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy Christmas magic in the Walled Garden where not everything is as it seems.

Visitors to the outdoors will not need to book for the trail or the outdoors.

National Trust members and under 5s visit for free, admission charges apply for non-members.

Group visits at Christmas

Christmas at Attingham is special time of year and is enjoyed by many thousands of people.

We are able to welcome pre-booked group visits on the following dates:

  • Monday 2 – Friday 8 December
  • Monday 11 – Friday 15 December
  • Monday 18 – Wednesday 20 December

Groups bookings are for at least 15 people and a maximum of 100, including National Trust members and non-members.

Making a booking

Please email attingham@nationaltrust.org.uk to check availability. We will issue a digital booking form for completion and once returned, will confirm your group visit.

When visiting the Mansion, your party will be asked to split into smaller groups of 10 people with staggered arrival times.

The last date for booking a group visit is Friday 1 December 2023.

Sunnycroft at Christmas and Father Christmas visits

Inspired by the song The Twelve Days of Christmas, enjoy a festive Christmas experience at Sunnycroft this December.

This year there are two special Christmas events taking place at Sunnycroft. Choose between a visit to see Father Christmas and a new for this December 'Behind the magic' visit.

Visits to Sunnycroft are by pre-booked ticket at this special time of year.
