Visiting Claydon with your class

We aim to help schools make the most of their visit by offering a memorable day out in an inspiring place like Claydon.

Visiting with your school group

At Claydon, learning is brought to life through a series of hands-on workshops delivered by our education team. We also encourage teachers to use the house as a space to follow their own programme of events and are happy to talk through options with you.

The National Curriculum and your visit

History Key Stage 1: For students to study past life in their local area; the lives of significant men and women from history.
Claydon House, as a setting for the life and work of Florence Nightingale, the nation’s favourite nurse, fits strongly with the recommendations of the National Curriculum.

What's involved?

  • an opportunity for a pre-visit to plan your trip
  • an itinerary with a guide to lead activities and give talks and tours
  • our guide will stay with your group throughout the day
  • a handling collection - touch and feel how life used to be different
  • portraits, photos, and letters about Florence’s life
  • green spaces for picnicking and playing
  • wet weather contingencies
