As the days draw in and we wrap up warm to enjoy chilly walks among the fallen leaves, Arctic Char, left behind by the Ice Age in the deep waters of Ennerdale, start to move up the River Liza.

The Arctic Char success story has been made possible by many different agencies working together under the Wild Ennerdale partnership which includes the National Trust. Working in this way allows for catchment-scale management of the surrounding landscape and hydrology to support the Char populations.
