Places you need to book

A family exploring the garden in summer at Hardy's Cottage, Dorset

Planning a day out at one of the houses or gardens we care for? Some places still need to be booked in advance. Read on to find out which places these are, and learn how you can join one of our new guided tour experiences.

Although you no longer need to pre-book your visit to many places we care for, some smaller gardens and houses still need to be booked in advance via the property webpage or National Trust mobile app. Many of these can be visited with guided tours only, so have a limited number of tickets available each day.

These guided tours will be led by expert volunteers who will give you unique insights into these historic houses and gardens, share stories from their past, and give you a closer look at precious collections.

You may also need to pre-book your visits to some other places, where visitor numbers need to be limited temporarily for practical reasons, such as ferry capacity.

Below you’ll find more information on which places need to be booked.
