Pointers on staying safe by the sea

Children running into the sea at Studland, Dorset

If you are planning on entering the sea at Holywell, Crantock Beach or Porth Joke please be aware of the following safety information.

Whether you are planning to just dip your toes in the water or fancy going for a surf, here are some tips on how to keep safe in the sea.

Holywell and Crantock Beach have lifeguard cover during the main holiday season (mid-May to end of September). Please be aware that Porth Joke does not have any lifeguards on duty there.

Always follow their instructions and take notice of flags and notices. Swim within the flagged areas and make yourself aware of the location of any life-saving equipment, such as buoys or emergency telephones.
