Hardman city centre walk
A circular route, starting at Liverpool Lime Street Station, taking in some of the iconic buildings and views that Edward Chambré Hardman photographed, including the Steble Fountain and the Playhouse Theatre.

Step 1
Start outside the main entrance to Lime Street Station. You will see St George's Hall across the road. Cross Lime Street and turn right. Walk past St George's Hall, keeping it on your left until you reach William Brown Street. The Steble Fountain will be in front of you.
Step 2
Cross the square past the fountain, and walk towards the steps of the Walker Art Gallery. Hardman took one of his most famous photographs from the steps of the gallery.
Step 3
From the gallery, walk to the main road and turn left. Continue on Whitechapel until you reach the shopping area at the junction of Whitechapel and Sir Thomas Street. Turn left and head towards Radio City Tower. Walk across Williamson Square, looking out for the playhouse.
Step 4
Looking at the playhouse, turn right. Head down towards Church Street. Once there walk down Church Alley to School Lane. You will see the Bluecoat ahead of you. It is one of the oldest buildings in Liverpool's city centre.
Step 5
From the Bluecoat head back to School Lane and turn right towards Hanover Street. At Hanover street, turn left and keep walking. The road becomes Ranelagh Street.
Step 6
At the end of Ranelagh Street, turn left onto Lime Street and head back to Lime Street Station. As you turn you will see the Adelphi Hotel ahead of you.
