Writing Places at Hardy's Cottage

A row of books on display in the Library at Mompesson House

What are the ingredients for writing a good story? What inspired Thomas Hardy to put pen to paper? We all have a favourite novel, but do we think about how it was crafted?

This year, Hardy's Cottage will be part of Writing Places, a partnership between National Trust and Literature Works to get writers back into literary houses. From September to October this year, Hardy's Cottage will be hosting a Writer in Residence who will be penning their own work while helping visitors to understand what is involved in the act of writing.

We are currently advertising for the two month long residency. For more information, please see the job advert and recruitment pack below:

The deadline for applications is Friday 16 June 2017.
