About Cartref

Set on a working farm at the base of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Cartref offers simple accommodation in a spectacular setting. Surrounded by rugged countryside and with excellent walking trails right on the doorstep, the cottage is a great base to discover all that Eryri (Snowdonia) has to offer. Inside, the cottage has a back-to-basics feel with a compact but cosy interior. Due to Cartref’s small size, there's no shower inside the cottage but there's a new outdoor shower and copper bath tub on the deck. You'll have a view of the neighbouring waterfalls as you bathe. Guests are also welcome to use the showers at the nearby campsite.

Wake up early and enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains and woodland, then grab your walking boots and head out onto the Watkins Path, one of the main trails up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). Or you could go further afield to the Carneddau mountain range. After a day rambling over the hills, sit out on the garden seating to relax and watch the sunset.

If you feel like taking a break from hiking the trails, spend a day exploring the enchanting gardens at  Plas Newydd House or visit the Railway Museum at Penrhyn Castle. Just a short drive from the cottage, the town of Beddgelert offers an array of art galleries, shops, pubs and restaurants.
