Take some time out at this rustic and characterful barn conversion, with the beautiful Norfolk broads on the doorstep.
The dramatic full height glazed entrance will definitely set the tone for your break at this former granary in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. Inside, you’ll find traces of the past with vaulted ceilings, wooden beams and exposed flint walls. Beyond it, you’ll love the walks across the water meadows, sand dunes and wide open spaces along the stunning Norfolk coast.
One of three barns on site, 3 Horsey Barns sits next to 1 and 2 Horsey Barns, making up a traditional farmyard cattle court. Now sleeping six in three bedrooms, you’ll find a galleried floor above the main open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area with one bedroom, with another double and a twin downstairs. It’s a brilliant base for families or groups of friends who will love exploring the nearby coast. Outside, there’s a small enclosed lawned area overlooking arable fields and towards the sand dunes, great for eating al-fresco after a day of adventures - sailing, walking or wildlife spotting.
Walkers can explore the coastal trails all around, with more than 10 miles of soft sand beaches, great for families, behind sand dunes 10 minutes’ walk from the barn, and two tea rooms and a pub nearby. If messing about on water is more your thing, then book a wildlife boat trip, head out kayaking or fishing on the Broads instead. Also – keep a look out for grey seals during breeding season.
Whether you’re looking for walks or beautifully calm beaches, the tranquil atmosphere of this genuinely unspoilt area of Norfolk will work its magic on you during your break. Take a trip to Horsey Windpump for the panoramic views, or head further afield to National Trust places Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall for more history. To pick up the pace of life again, head to the seaside town of Great Yarmouth, only half an hour away, with its mix of shops, restaurants, pubs and the Pleasure Beach and Sea Life Centre.
