There are miles of walking trails on the estate, through grassland, woodland and along the River Tern. The fallow deer in the deer park are descended from the original herd that was established in the early 1800s.

The area is full of pretty market towns, like Shrewsbury, and the remains of a Roman city are just a 10-minute drive away. There are plenty of other National Trust places to visit within an hour's drive of the lodge, such as Dudmaston Hall and the medieval Powis Castle.

Sandybury Barn has double-height windows and an open-plan living area, and accessibility features in the ground-floor bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. Sleeps seven.

We have plenty of comfortable places for group get-togethers in Shropshire. Whether you're best suited to a cluster of neighbouring barns or a bunkhouse for 16, set up base to explore the county's history and hills, or take it easy in spaces with open-plan layouts and warming woodburners.

1 and 2 Morville are semi-detached barns with cosy, rustic interiors. They're near the vibrant town of Bridgnorth and medieval Much Wenlock. Each sleeps five. Dog friendly.
