About Spring in the kitchen and walled gardens
Prepare the farmhouse kitchen garden for spring planting and help propagate some of our lovely ornamental plants. You’ll be staying in a restored farmhouse at Little Craig-y-Borion Farm, preparing the farmhouse garden for the year to come, so that working holidays and other residential volunteers can enjoy fresh, home-grown fruit and vegetables. You will also be helping to dig up, split and propagate plants from the walled garden. There will be a wide range of other estate and garden tasks thrown in to keep things varied and interesting.
About the accommodation
Little Craig-y-Borion Farm sits at the heart of the 900-acre Colby Estate. The farmhouse dates back at least 200 years and is an old stone and lime-mortar building restored and refurbished in 2015. Accommodation is in two three-person dorms. Heated by wood burners and solar panels with a newly replanted orchard and kitchen garden in the making, it sits in a beautiful location far from the road and surrounded by woodland and meadows. There is a large network of woodland paths right on the doorstep and the beach at Amroth is a 30-minute walk away through lovely woodland.
Notes for guests
Stout footwear and adequate work wear are essential. Gardening gloves advisable.
