Important notice
The windpump will be closed from Monday 23 June to Friday 27 June due to piling works for the new pumping station. The path to the viewpoint will also be closed. Our visitor welcome, café and toilets will be open as normal.

Car park at Horsey Windpump is open dawn until dusk. Free for National Trust members, please scan your membership card to obtain your ticket. £4 for three hours, £6 all day and £8 for campervans for non-National Trust members.
- Dogs allowed
Dogs welcome around the site, on leads only. Please note we do not allow dogs (with the exception of assistance dogs) inside the windpump.

Open dawn until dusk. Accessible toilet available.
Accessible car parking spaces. The path from the car park to the windpump is accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs/buggies. This accessible path continues to the viewing point that overlooks Horsey Mere. Only the ground floor of the windpump is accessible for wheelchairs. There are 61 steep steps to top of the windpump. On the ground floor there is information about the windpump in large print format. Here you can also watch a film about the windpump, which shows the upper levels and views from the top.

Our café offers a range of hot and cold drinks and snacks, including pastries, scones and cakes that are baked on site. Seating is outdoor.
Orchard
Eight different varieties of local apples are grown in our orchard. This peaceful haven is filled with blossom in spring and is used for our family events.
Wildlife Garden
The sensory wildlife garden and pond area bursts with colour in summer, attracting many different types of bees and butterflies. You might be lucky enough to see a Swallowtail here.
Horsey Mere
Take in sweeping views across Horsey Mere, one of the more northerly broads of the Norfolk Broads network, and a haven for wildlife.
Heigham Holmes Nature Reserve
An area of low-lying grazing marshes near Martham, this is an important wetland habitat for wading and water birds. Access via guided walks only.
Stay
Stay in one of one of our characterful barn conversions accommodating 3 to 6 people. Horsey Barns are ideally situated for beautiful walks across the water meadows, sand dunes, and Horsey beach.

About Horsey Windpump
Horsey Windpump is an iconic building with a fascinating past and the perfect gateway to experience the connection between man and nature. Standing sentinel over the mere and surrounding Broadland landscape, a climb to the top is rewarded with beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside an opportunity not to be missed.
Having been stood still and silent for over 75 years since 1943 when it was struck by lightning, Horsey Windpump has been brought back to life and is now complete with a winding cap and turning sails bringing a whole new visitor experience to this wonderful Grade II* Listed Building.
On site is also a café selling light refreshments, drinks, ice creams and snacks. With outdoor seating available, you can relax and watch the Windpump’s sails go round (on selected days, weather permitting) or the world go by.
Horsey, where the Broads meet the coast, is unrivalled as a place providing views into this mysterious broadland landscape of Norfolk. This remote location is secluded and famed for its internationally important wildlife, from the over-wintering wildfowl frequenting Horsey Mere to the Swallowtail butterfly, the very essence of a summer on the Broads. A great place for walking and bird watching, throughout the seasons.
