May half term in Cambridgeshire

We've got adventures for all the family, so head outdoors where the kids can get messy, muddy and back in touch with nature. Here are some of our favourite places to go for a wild family day out across Cambridgeshire.

Family walking dogs

Which places are open and what you need to know before you visit

We're starting to open some gardens and parklands in England and Northern Ireland at reduced capacity, through advance bookings every week. Most places up to 8 June have now reached capacity. New tickets are released every Friday and we'll continue to add new places over the coming weeks. More than 200 coast and countryside car parks are now open. All houses remain closed for now and all places in Wales remain closed following Welsh Government advice. Read this article to find out what's open and what to expect from your visit.

Children at Anglesey Abbey

Anglesey Abbey

Hoe Fen Wildlife Discovery Area at Anglesey Abbey is a great place for families to explore and play in the wild. It's also where you can rediscover 50 things to do before you’re 11¾, and climb to the top of our three storey tree house. Join us from 23 - 31 May for nature themed activities.

Family pond-dipping

Wicken Fen

There's lots of different ways you and your family can explore Wicken Fen, whether it's on foot, by bike or boat. During half-term we'll have a different 50 Things activity every day, from bug hunting to den building. You can even try your hand at geocaching or stay the night at our back to basics campsite!

Children enjoying their visit to Wimpole Home Farm

Wimpole Estate

There's always something new to see and plenty of adventures to be had at Wimpole. Come and explore Home Farm and meet some of our latest arrivals, or join our Scavenger Hunt and get closer to nature.

Houghton Mill

Houghton Mill is a favourite for families wanting to take some time out down by the river. For those wanting to explore, you can do so by foot, bike and canoe, it's a great spot for a picnic too. Inside the mill we’ll be running Crafty Tuesdays throughout the school holidays.
