Stroll around Malham Tarn
A beautiful place for a stroll, a picnic and a chance for some fresh air; Malham Tarn is a very special place. You can walk or cycle and there are even some Tramper routes for you to try out - see our routes below.
Malham Tarn forms part of the internationally important National Nature Reserve and is home to a number of rare species, some of which are left over from the last Ice Age.
Visit the Queen of the Fairies
The beautiful waterfall at Janet’s Foss is a magical place to visit, only a short walk from Malham village. Somewhat uneven and rocky towards the end, this route provides that little bit of excitement to tempt the kids. This walk is particularly memorable in springtime as the woodland is a mass of wild garlic.

Wander to Malham Cove
Feel on top of the world and marvel at the view from the top of Malham Cove. Only a short walk from Malham village, the Cove has been a popular and awe-inspiring place to visit for hundreds of years. This route is accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs, although there is a gradient.
National Nature Reserve
Malham Tarn National Nature Reserve is an amazing place to visit, especially during the summer when the flowers and dragonflies are in abundance. There is something for everyone here and it changes throughout the seasons so one visit is never enough.
