Christmas shopping at Mottistone Gardens

This was about Christmas shopping in 2017. We'll update this with information about 2018 later in the year. Why not avoid the hustle and bustle of the high street this Christmas by escaping to our National Trust shop at Mottistone Gardens? Nestled in the heart of the countryside and located in an ancient barn, it’s the perfect place to find a special gift this festive season. And with every purchase you make, you’re giving a present to nature too this year.

When to visit

The cold weather may mean that our gardens are closed, but our warm and cosy shop is open 11am-3pm every Thursday to Saturday from 2 November to 23 December. We’ll also be open on Sunday 10 December to celebrate Brighstone Tree Festival.

Inside you’ll find shelves covered with sweets, chocolates, biscuits, jams and curds galore, all made exclusively for us in the UK. We also have Christmas cards and decorations, and a rich Christmas pudding, along with healthy nuts and warming mulled wine spice packs: everything for a traditional Christmas.

Our new winter ranges include loads of gifts for kids, from stocking fillers and soft toys to games and books

For little ones there are plenty of gifts to stuff out stockings with. Our soft and furry pet and wildlife toys might raise a big grin on Christmas morning and each one comes with fascinating facts about the animal's habitat and food.

Inspired by our places

Inspired by the winter sun setting on the wild landscapes of Rodborough Common in Gloucestershire, our Winter Twilight design is created exclusively for the National Trust by our in-house designers. The soft reds and greens, and trailing leaf patterns, feature on snuggly throws and cosy cushions, as well as candles scented with frosted pine and hints of Eucalyptus and Patchouli.

Our Bohemian Circles design also takes inspiration from one of our places, Monk’s House, East Sussex, the home of writer Virginia Woolf. With vibrant colours and geometric patterns, it reflects the broad artistic and eclectic nature of the bohemian lifestyle in the early 20th century, and is the perfect way to bring colour into a dull winter’s day. It features on jugs, mugs and kitchen textiles, as do Dee Hardwick’s British wildlife designs. Dee’s delicate illustrations of robins, hares, owls and squirrels are inspired by the woods and outdoor spaces the Trust cares for.

Discover a good read and cause

On our book shelves you’ll find specially commissioned recipe and nature books, as well as those on a diverse range of topics including gardens, walking and heritage. Or this Christmas, give your loved ones more than 500 special places to explore with National Trust gift membership. And because so many of our products are exclusive to us and made in the UK, shopping with the National Trust at Mottistone Gardens ensures that not only are you supporting a conservation charity, but every gift will be something a little bit different from what you’ll find on that busy high street.
