Fancy joining the team?

Volunteers with object and paper records

There are so many ways to get involved here at Mr Straw's House. We have a friendly, close-knit community of volunteers who all help to make sure every visitor leaves fascinated by the Straw family and their home. Whether you are interested in gardening, research, conservation, helping with our learning programme, sharing stories as a guide in the house or even welcoming our visitors each day there really is something for everyone in our small team.

Help us to make every visit to Mr Straw's House memorable for our visitors. We are looking forward to welcoming you to the team.

Something to suit everyone

From guiding to gardening, conservation to visitor welcome, there's bound to be something right for you at Mr Straw's House.

" I love history and telling people bits of history that I have learnt so this is perfect for me. Also I get to meet people from all around the country."
- Dale

We are currently looking for volunteers to support our new learning programme, help in our gardens with both labelling plants and practical gardening, to helping on the welcome desk and sharing stories with our visitors in the house or exhibition rooms. Our conservation team would also welcome your help with a series of projects around the archive and collection at Mr Straw's House.

If you're looking to learn new skills, meet new people or get involved in the local community please don't hesitate to get in touch with us by email, contact the property or take a look at the National Trust volunteering website.

" I really enjoy meeting people and being able to help visitors have a nice visit - the whole social aspect really. And it's such a contrast to my paid job"
- Lucy
