Summer outdoors at Nuffield Place
The gardens and woodland come to life in these summer months at Nuffield Place. With places to relax in the tranquil gardens, and peaceful woodlands to take a stroll through, it's the perfect place to visit on a summer day.
Early summer blooms
The wisteria on the house will be coming into bloom throughout May, making for a wonderful sight to view from the gardens, and providing a beautiful scent.
Look out for the rare 'Molly the Witch' peony in the gardens, which will begin to bloom throughout June.
Wild flowers in the meadow also start to bloom in these months, creating a pretty view as you enjoy a picnic in one of the picnic areas.
Take a leisurely stroll
The gardens at Nuffield Place have a unique feel to them, as they were inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement. May and June are the ideal months for a leisurely wander around them.
From the croquet lawn, to the pond lawn and through a rockery there are many special elements to explore outside in the gardens.
An area that was once part of a 400 year old meadow is now home to the new vegetable garden, where produce is grown that can be bought depending on the season.
Opposite the garage, where Lady Nuffield’s car is stored, hidden behind a conifer tree, is a little seating area overlooking the meadow. A perfect sun trap!

Little explorers can take advantage of the woodland being so close to the gardens and the house. Why not get them to create some wild art there, or start hunting for bugs? They can also make daisy chains on any of the lawns surrounding the house.
