Join us for a Nutcracker inspired Christmas this year at Nymans between Saturday 18 November 2023 and Monday 1 January (10am – 4pm).

Enjoy a sumptuous feast for the senses this Christmas inspired by the classic tale, where giant Nutcracker soldiers, glittering Christmas trees, and colourful decorations all combine to bring this enchanting adventure to life. Step onto Clara’s giant sleigh, take a photo, then imagine your flight across a snowy forest. Costumes from Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker! are on display in the Gallery, and in the house discover ‘The Land of Sweets’, complete with sumptuous sweetie banquet decorations. A trail in the garden takes families on a voyage through this magical world, beginning one exciting Christmas Eve Night, once upon a time…

Visit the Gallery open daily from 18 November to see a selection of costumes from Matthew Bourne’s magical fantasy production, Nutcracker! (Last entry 3pm).

A family Christmas Nutcracker trail in the garden

Saturday 18 November 2023 – Monday 1 January 2024: 10.30am – 4pm.

As the classic Nutcracker music floats gently through the trees, a garden trail takes families on a voyage through this magical world, beginning once upon a time on Christmas Eve Night. See the Toymaker’s creations, tiptoe past the villainous Mouse Army and take a seat on the Sugar Plum Fairy’s throne in these immersive snapshots from the story.

Saturday 18 November 2023 – Monday 1 January 2024: 11am – 3.30pm.

Like Clara from the classic Christmas tale, be immersed in a wonderland of sweets. Rooms are crammed with sweety banquet decorations and filled with dazzling ornaments, inspired by Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker! You’ll find a selection of the original costumes from the production on display in the Gallery. Sumptuous Christmas trees and sparkling lights fill the house with atmosphere and magic. Last entry to the house is at 3pm.

Christmas making activities at Nymans

Willow weaving workshop with Hedges & Hurdles

Bring some rustic charm to your garden and home in time for Christmas with ‘Hedges and Hurdles’ Country Skills & Crafts. All materials are provided and are natural and sustainable. Workshops will create one of the following: a Swedish star, a willow angel, or a willow heart.

Thurs 30 Nov: 10am–12.30pm & 1.30pm– 4pm.

Make a willow angel in the morning’s workshop and a traditional Swedish star in the afternoon. Includes a hot drink or mulled wine and a mince pie. Booking is essential. Tickets £45

Sun 14 Dec: 10am–12.30pm & 1.30pm– 4pm.

In the morning workshop we’ll be making a willow heart and, in the afternoon, a traditional Swedish star. Includes a hot drink or mulled wine and a mince pie. Booking is essential. Tickets are £45 per session (morning or afternoon).

Family Workshop

We’re also running a new family workshop on Sunday 16 Dec: 10am–12.30pm & 1.30pm–4pm. Tickets are £45 adults and £35 teens. Booking is essential.

Needle felting workshops - snowman or penguin

Mon 11, Tue 12 & Wed 13 Dec; 10am - 3.30pm

Join Nikki Scally of 'Felt at Home' for this half day needle felting workshop in the Potting Shed. Everything you need to create your own unique needle felted snowman or penguin will be provided. A relaxed and chatty atmosphere awaits in the Potting shed with a cosy and warm log burner. Admission to Nymans is included as well as tea, coffee and biscuits.

Christmas food and drink

Indulge in a bag of freshly made, buttery, popcorn or deliciously sweet candy floss in the Riding House this Christmas. Feast on crumble topped mince pies or festive spiced muffins. Celebrate Christmas in the welcome café with a traditional Christmas lunch and a slice of iced fruit cake. There’s no need to book ahead for a Christmas lunch. (Last orders at 2pm). Plenty of festive treats are on offer to keep hunger at bay too and our range of comforting drinks with a festive feel are perfect for the season. Find fun nutcracker themed treats in the Riding House where you can enjoy refreshments both inside and out in the courtyard around the Christmas tree. (Last orders for food and drink 3.45pm)

Find artisanal gifts, delicious nibbles, unique homeware and a range of beautiful books and toys in our large shop. Get inspiration for presents with gift ideas that you won’t find anywhere else. Profits from the shop go straight back into looking after Nymans.
